Our specialisation

PCB & board-level repair.
The hard stuff.

Most repair shops replace entire boards or send you away. We go deeper — diagnosing and repairing at the component level. Bad capacitor, blown mosfet, shorted power rail, lifted BGA pad — we find it and fix it.

  • Microsoldering under microscope — components down to 0201 size
  • GPU reballing — full reball including memory fault diagnosis
  • Power rail diagnosis — shorts, opens, voltage faults
  • Liquid damage cleaning & board-level corrosion repair
  • MacBook logic board repair — all models including M-series
  • Automotive ECU board-level repair

⚠️
Is your data backed up? If not — and your device has a soldered SSD — a dead motherboard means your data is locked away until the board is repaired.
What most people don't know

Your hard drive isn't removable anymore.

Since around 2017, Apple soldered the SSD directly onto the MacBook logic board. This means if your board fails — from liquid damage, a power surge, a blown component — you can't just pull the drive and recover your data. The storage chip stays with the board.

The same is true for many modern Windows laptops and ultrabooks. Manufacturers solder storage to save space and improve speed — but it removes the traditional fallback of swapping the drive into another machine.

The only way to get your data back is to repair the board. That's exactly what we do — and why board-level repair matters far beyond just getting a device working again.

🍎 MacBook Air & Pro Soldered SSD
All models 2017 and later have the SSD soldered directly to the logic board. Dead board = locked data.
  • MacBook Air 2017+
  • MacBook Pro 2017+
  • MacBook (all 2017+ models)
  • M1, M2, M3 — all soldered
💻 Modern Laptops & Ultrabooks Often soldered
Many thin laptops and ultrabooks now solder storage to the board. Common in recent Dell XPS, HP Spectre, Lenovo ThinkPad X1, and Surface devices.
  • Dell XPS 13/15 (recent models)
  • HP Spectre / Envy series
  • Microsoft Surface range
  • Lenovo X1 Carbon & Yoga
🖥️ Desktop PCs & Older Laptops Usually removable
Most desktop PCs and older laptops still use removable M.2 or 2.5" SSDs — but even then, a failed controller chip can still lock your data.
  • Pre-2017 MacBooks (mostly)
  • Desktop PCs
  • Older Windows laptops
  • Gaming laptops (many)

Board repair = data recovery
If your device won't boot and the SSD is soldered, we're often the only option. We repair the board — and with it, recover your data.

🍎 MacBook logic board repair
10+ years experience

Hi, I'm Paul — founder of BartTech.

I started BartTech because I was tired of seeing people get told their devices were unrepairable when they weren't. Most repair shops replace entire boards or send you packing. I go deeper — component level, under the microscope, finding the actual fault.

When you bring your device to BartTech, you're dealing directly with the person doing the repair. No middlemen, no call centres. Just honest diagnosis, fair pricing, and a 6-month warranty on every repair I do.

Yes — every repair comes with a 6-month warranty. If the same fault reoccurs within 6 months of your repair, we'll fix it at no extra charge.
In most cases yes. MacBooks from 2017 onwards have the SSD soldered to the logic board, which means data recovery requires board-level repair — exactly what we specialise in. Bring it in and we'll assess what's recoverable.
Walk-ins are always welcome Mon–Fri 9am–5pm and Saturday 8am–12pm. No appointment needed. You can also book online via our booking system if you prefer to lock in a time.
Absolutely. Many shops quote for full board replacements because they don't have the skills to repair at component level. We regularly fix devices that other shops have written off, often for a fraction of the replacement cost. Bring it in — we'll give you an honest assessment.
Yes. Liquid damage is one of our specialties. We perform ultrasonic cleaning, corrosion removal and board-level fault finding. The sooner you bring it in after liquid damage the better the chances of a full recovery — don't leave it in rice.
